Fusion therapy with Sports massage
This bespoke massage treatment helps to alleviate sports related stress using a variety of deeper, therapeutic massage strokes and techniques to help soften hard fibrous tissues, separate adherent fibres, relieve pain, congestion and inflammation and improve circulation.
Especially useful for very tense and contracted areas of the body.

Do you need to be sporty to benefit from this treatment?
You do not necessarily need to be involved with sport or more structured physical activity to benefit from this treatment. Regular walkers, cyclists or keen gardeners may equally find greater ease and release in their bodies from the treatment.
Similarly, if you work in an office or desk job, sitting in the same spot for long or stressful days, perform the same task over and over again in your job, drive long distances or work in any field of manual labour, fusion therapy with sport massage treatment will help counter the demands on your body so that you can be at your best both physically and mentally.

When to have this type of massage treatment
If you're a regular gym user, runner, cyclist, swimmer or any type of active participant in a sport, this massage therapy is an effective addition to a training schedule and treatments vary according to when and why you seek treatment.
In general, there are four main types of treatment:
A pro-active approach to recover quicker, maintain condition, prevent injuries and enhance performance.

General benefits
This treatment is often beneficial for anyone regularly participating in sport or those who require pre and post event sports massage. It helps to soothe or revitalise the muscles for that all important preparation before a race, game or marathon and then later rejuvenate the body helping decrease muscle soreness, draining muscles of toxins, aiding their readjustment and repair in preparation for the next training session or event.
Sport massage and fusion therapy can help maintain the body in generally better condition, prevent injuries and loss of mobility, treat and restore mobility to injured muscle tissue, boost performance and extend the overall life of your sporting career or just help you enjoy a more active lifestyle.
I may offer help and advice on effective stretching and soft tissue release, restoring greater muscular balance in your body, on any training techniques and posture as appropriate and if you wish, to help you gain maximum benefit from the treatment.

Physiological effects of sport massage and fusion therapy
Pain reduction - tension and waste products in muscles can often cause pain. Massage helps reduce this in many ways including releasing the body's endorphins.
Relaxation - muscles relax through heat generated, circulation and stretching. Mechanoreceptors which sense touch, pressure, tissue length and warmth are stimulated causing a reflex relaxation.

Psychological effects of sport massage and fusion therapy
Anxiety reduction - through the effects mentioned above relaxation is induced and so reduces anxiety levels. Pre event this is useful to help clear and focus the mind for optimal performance.
Invigorating - if massage is performed with brisk movements, which is useful before an event, then this can produce an invigorated, enlivened feeling in the body.

Different discomfort thresholds
This varies greatly for each and every one of us. Our comfort levels are entirely subjective.
Please rest assured that I will respect your limits and work with care and sensitivity within them. Pressure is a source of relief in massage therapy. Working into deeper tissues can be a little uncomfortable, but it should only ever a ‘good’ pain that is still somehow welcome. For more information on this please click here.
