Alison Le Mar Massage Therapy, Reflexology, Reiki and Yoga

I am a fully qualified, insured and experienced massage and complementary therapist (MFHT) providing exceptional care and a range of therapeutic treatments in the heart of Faversham. I am also a yoga teacher (BWY) offering several yoga classes and individual yoga tuition within the town.

Based at The Gatefield Clinic my treatments can be used as an adjunct to osteopathic treatment or on their own as a regular maintenance treatment to help prevent the accumulation of aches, pains and injury or indeed, support rehabilitation back from illness or repetitive strain injury.

I offer a wide variety of different types of massage styles and techniques to suit each client’s individual needs from deep therapeutic massage to massage for relaxation and stress relief.

I am a registered member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (MFHT) and the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY).

Membership of these professional bodies requires practitioners to carry out additional training each year on top of existing qualifications (continued professional development or CPD). This ensures skills are kept up to date and topped up with new techniques on a regular basis.

The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) is the largest and leading professional association for therapists in the UK and Ireland. With thousands of members offering a broad range of specialism - from sports and remedial therapies, to a range of holistic and complementary healthcare - the FHT is the association of choice for professional therapists.

I have been a member for a number of years since I qualified as a therapist.

As part of my current CPD (continuing professional development), I’m excited to have started my first module towards the BTEC level 6 Professional Diploma in Advanced Clinical Massage and Sports Massage.

It will be fantastic to be able to offer new clinical techniques and practices to help people living with pain enjoy more comfortable lives.

Established in 1965, the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) is the Sport England recognised national governing body for yoga. As yoga has grown in popularity so too has the BWY. At our core remains our guiding philosophy to promote a greater understanding of yoga and its safe practice through experience, education, discussion, study and training.

My yoga teacher training was through a comprehensive BWY course over a number of years.

I have a committed personal practice and love to spread the yoga word!

My background lies very much in people led services. I have experience of working within the National Health Service offering therapeutic treatments in a mental health hospital in Canterbury. I have also worked as a gym instructor in Faversham with a wide range of people with varying health and fitness needs. Before these endeavours, I worked as a learning support assistant and then teacher in primary education across Faversham, Canterbury and Sittingbourne.

I would like to think that these experiences all enhance and inform my therapy work and yoga teaching now. I am still passionate about teaching and learning and have undertaken modules in advanced specialist teaching studies which contribute credit towards award of a Masters Degree.

I love helping people to heal and thrive and feel good within and about themselves.

The Gatefield Clinic has been established in Faversham’s town centre for seventeen years. We are a dedicated and thriving multi- disciplinary practice with strong links to all local GP practices and health clinics. The clinic specialises in complementary treatments and natural healthcare.

A comprehensive range of treatments to help with your health and wellness issues is offered (other than the ones practiced by myself) from osteopathy to acupuncture, homeopathy to chiropody. I am so pleased to be based in central Faversham at The Gatefield Clinic and the St. Jude Welcome Centre serving my home town and the surrounding areas of East Kent including Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Sittingbourne and the Medway Towns with a range of therapeutic massage therapies and the joy of yoga.

I am a member of the Faversham Traders Association celebrating and promoting the work of the independent traders for the town of Faversham, Kent.
