What is Abdominal Sacral Massage?

Abdominal Sacral Massage is a holistic and non- invasive therapeutic treatment. It involves a slow, deep, external treatment of the abdomen, lower back and sacrum to soften muscles, help free and align congested organs and therefore, open up blockages to the flow of blood, lymph, and nerve pathways. In women, the position of the uterus may be adjusted and in men, the treatment helps promote prostate health.

The massage works with the intention of helping to bring back into alignment the visceral organs. Treatment is designed to help bring the organs within the abdominal area back into alignment, releasing pressure and strengthening the surrounding muscles and ligaments within the pelvic area and therefore improve circulation.

Digestive Health

This specific abdominal massage treatment supports a healthy digestion and the deep colon massage aims to help to loosen any hardened debris and to encourage natural bowel movement. For people with digestive disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), indigestion, constipation, diarrhoea, bloating, heartburn and gastro- oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and Crohn’s disease, treatment may help alleviate the symptoms and discomfort.

Abdominal Sacral Massage may also be complementary in addressing emotional stress by releasing tension held in the torso. Treatment assists with freeing the diaphragm which may be restricted due to unhelpful breathing patterns whilst creating more space in the abdominal cavity for the organs which improves the abdominal and pelvic circulation. The parasympathetic nervous system is activated which helps reduce stress and anxiety and supports the release of emotional trauma and blockages.
